in an effort to rearrange SGM’s distribution network to match its growing presence in the architectural and entertainment markets across the Latin American region, Díaz relocated temporarily to Mexico. Now, less than a year later, a solid distribution network is starting to take shape across the continent.
With distribution partner, Representaciones de Audio, in place – offering a strong sales and support infrastructure to the Mexican market – Díaz has been able to develop other key markets in Central and South America.

According to Díaz, the Mexican rental companies are very professional, while Mexican television channels are the broadcasting reference for the rest of the continent. Both factors contribute to providing the perfect climate for SGM’s success. But reorganizing distribution does not come without hard work. Díaz explained: “We invested a lot of time to train our exclusive partners while visiting potential customers and important trade shows. End of February 2013 SGM’s CEO, Peter Johansen, visited authorized and exclusive SGM distributor in Mexico, Representaciones de Audio. The main focus of the visit was to establish further business cooperation for large-scale projects in Mexico as well as conducting an SGM seminar for hundreds of participants invited by Representaciones de Audio to the SGM showroom.
Among these participants was lighting designer Ben Díaz, currently touring South America with latin pop-rock artist Rosana. Ben Díaz has several years of experience with SGM products and subsequent to the seminar he published his own viewing of the new direction of SGM as “…maybe the coolest in the market right now”, reviewing and commenting on the new product portfolio.

Ben Diaz is a visual designer and tour operator. He worked in thirteen countries as a crew member, including Europe and America, using Chamsys MagicQ systems.
Ben Diaz works at the show business world in a professional manner since 2005, attending both lighting and video issues to design his live shows. He operates several lighting consoles like Avolites, Hog, MA or ETC systems, but he always prefers Chamsys MagicQ platforms. Ben Diaz also experienced video media servers as Catalyst, Resolume, Modul8 and Arkaos.
